Teach Primary Award: LITERACY/ENGLISH RESOURCE

“Resources designed to promote the development of pupils’ spoken language, reading, writing and vocabulary.”

This comes swiftly off the back of our recent shortlisting for the ERA Awards (Education Resource Awards) and our Evidence Applied ‘Edward’ for Evidence informed practice at the start of the year!

For those of you that aren’t on board yet, here’s what we do:

The Learning Village transforms classrooms! It’s an innovative English-language programme, providing targeted learning, online and offline, for 6-14-year-old new arrivals in this country. It takes children who have limited English-language skills on an exciting journey of learning, from survival language through to curriculum content. In a vibrant online ‘village’, the programme builds a community of learners, forging friendships as new arrivals share learning and compete against one other.

Superbly supported by resources, the programme is underpinned by automatic analysis and assessment of progress. Its image-based approach means that it works for learners of any language – and for those who aren’t literate at all. For teachers grappling with the problems of new arrivals, the Learning Village is a vital support, enabling them to teach every single child in their classroom.
